На этой Ассамблее МОК был признан, как самостоятельный,автономный орган. В связи с Этим,Президент WKF обращается к Национальным Федерациям. Dear President,
Recently a milestone for sport has been achieved at the UN General Assembly in New York: the United Nations has recognised the autonomy of the International Olympic Committee and sport.
This resolution should be a reference point for the worldwide sports movement, more specifically also for the WKF as an International Federation, but also for our National Federations in their strive for autonomy and the development of sport at a national level. According to the resolution, sport is a means to promote education, health, development and peace and we should all take our part in order to achieve these important objectives. As highlighted through the resolution and in line with the spirit of the WKF and its members, we would like to stress at this occasion "that major international sport events should be organised in the spirit of peace, mutual understanding, friendship, tolerance and inadmissibility of discrimination of any kind and [...] the unifying and conciliatory nature of such events should be respected."
More importantly, the UN member states are encouraged to give sport "due consideration in the context of the post-2015 Development Agenda" and it is here where we would like to highlight the importance of the work on national level, where sport should be fully integrated into the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
As an International Federation recognised by the IOC and within our responsibilities of developing the sport of Karate worldwide, it is our turn to encourage you to take this as a chance to promote Karate in your respective countries.
